"He Needs It More Than I Do"

I love all of the books I've purchased from Ruqaya's Bookshelf, and appreciate this one very much. These books are wonderful for character development in our children, but also for parents! I find myself repeating lines from these books in every day life. I recently found myself saying, "____ needs it more than I do" (a beautiful line repeated throughout Green Dinosaur Umbrella) when gifting something to a neighbor.

Hajj has so many rituals but the story introduces and teaches some of these things without getting into too much detail (though even less would have been fine too, with more details on the back pages if needed, etc.). But perhaps it's a good middle ground, not too much detail so as not to lose the youngest readers and not too basic so there's enough for older readers.

I've been reading this book to my toddler and preschooler almost every day for the past year and it's helped me learn more about Hajj rituals and be able to visualize what it might be like (insha'Allah we will all be able to complete this pillar of Islam if we haven't yet)!

The best children's book for Muslims!

This is so creatively written MashAllah. We need more authors that write like this!
I love how the Hajj manasik intertwined with this story of a boy who gives what he loves (the umbrella) to someone who needs it, and the ending is such a pleasant surprise.
Must buy on ever Muslim mother’s list!

Well written and very thoughtful details

This book was a gift for my daughter’s first Eid Al-Adha she was 5 months only by then, and Honestly didn’t read the story until month ago, and I was honestly astonished by it! It’s Amazing! I’m an Early childhood teacher and I always look deeply in my daughter’s books! The language, illustrations, colors, characters and the ideas. I can say this was an exceptional book that checked all my boxes!
May Allah reward the writer and I would love to see this book translated to Arabic 😍 I won’t hesitate to buy it again !

good book for young kids

This book is good if you want to discuss social responsibilities with your child. It really talks about the fact that if Allah wants you to have something, HE will make sure you have it back somehow.
